My antibiotics run out a few days before my appointment for the extraction. Do I have any worries of reinfection? I am on amoxicillin 500 3x a day for 10 days.
My molar with the 24 karat gold crown snapped out. Turns out that tooth was abscessed already and I did not know it. No pain at all. I had lumps on that cheek come and go for months and months. Never felt pain. Dentist thinks it must have found a place to drain. i am guessing my sinuses.

No worries at all.

It’s not the extraction that scares me but reinfection I’ve had a lot of extractions in my life so I know what to expect as far as pain

When the extraction is done then the site of the infection is gone.
Genuine post-op infection of sockets is such a rare thing that I've only seen it once in 40 odd years, dry sockets aren't infections btw.
You've also had a course of wide spectrum antibiotics, so your mouth is already a pretty low bacterial area.

Well it went well. took 5 minutes. I almost lost my clot in my sleep. i made a sucking motion by accident and i felt something move there. I got a codeine/acetaminophen prescription that i will try not to use 'just in case"

Great, thanks for updating me. You're past the biggest dry socket risk zone as well now.

I am on day three and feel OK. I don’t feel any pain or discomfort. I think day 2 was the worst for that’s when the soreness hit. I had dry socket once about 15 years ago and dear God, it was horrible so I always make sure I do not overuse the medication just in case

I am on day 8 and it is healed over completely. its still a tad sensitive but i can use a straw now
