I had a root canal done on tooth #30 on October 17th first root canal ever! Afterwards I noticed that I had sharp edges on two sides of the tooth. I tried grinding them myself with a finger nail file (i had to put the file in between two teeth) but was never able to get it exactly smooth so I was using G.U.M Ortho Wax and it was resting on my gum due to the sharpness of the tooth. So on October 24th I went back to the endodontic and had him smooth the sharp edges. He said my tooth looked like it was healing fine and everything went well. Now in between the two teeth I was trying to file down the sharpness on it feels like I have a slight burning sensation / ache the gums. Could this be cause the gums are irritated? There isn't any redness like you'd expect if it was irritated or inflamed so I'm not really sure what it could be? I have an OCD when something is different in my mouth (like the tooth thats filed down waiting for a temporary crown on October 31st) my tongue feels the need to constantly play with it. Can this feeling that I'm feeling in my gums be because they're irritated from everything (the root canal, the filing down and tongue constantly rubbing over it) or should I be worried about something else?
This was my first root canal ever!!! I'm terrified of dentist and before the root canal I had done convinced myself that this was going to be extremely painful and that I was making the worst decision of my life. Now I'm still dealing with horrible anxiety after the procedure because I'm afraid this root canal is going to fail and I'm going to wind up having to pull it (trying my best to keep my teeth). But the root canal seems to have went well no more sensitivity to cold or heat and I didn't have an abscess to begin with just was having sensitivity issues and a deep filling needed. And ever little ache, pain etc. is worrying me to death.
Thanks for easing my nerves!
