So basically… my teeth have been feeling weird and this is quite embarrassing but I don’t think I know how to floss properly but they say I should.. and I’ve been trying to correctly for awhile because it’s “needed” but I’m scared I might have caused bone loss or something because my back molar feels really strange.. or if my gums are inflamed (they don’t seem overly red or puffy) . But basically I was flossing and floss got stuck and I heard kind of like a snapping noise.. I feel somewhat pain but not unbearable.. not to mention before this I was feeling pressure in my teeth like in my jawbone area, my second molar on my left side. I’m worried I’m doing more damage when flossing… and I don’t know if I just caused gum disease or bone loss with that one back molar I tried flossing. I have not really had good dental hygiene until recently because I started feeling pressure in my tooth, jawbone, after I brushed my teeth one day. & I just haven’t stopped with a routine of brushing and attempting to floss. But I’m scared I flossed too far under the gum line and did something to my back molar? Like cut a root or something.. not sure if adult teeth work like that. But I’m scared.

Can you go in and see a dentist or hygienist, and ask them to show how you should floss? I didn't know how to floss at all, and had never done so, because my parents never taught me or asked me to floss and a dentist taught me about flossing and how to do it correctly (I think they realized I wasn't doing it at my appointment). Maybe that would be an option for you too?

@NervousUSA Have you seen my thread that I posted earlier today and do you have any advice for me please?. I am so scared and have been in tears. The thread is in the ask a dentist part of the forum. @Heyimscared I understand how you feel. I have a bit of bone loss and dont know how to use string floss and interdental brushes but I know how to use a waterpik flosser and an electric toothbrush.

@anonfemale I think it is good your dentist is going to show you how to do the cleaning with interdental brushes and string floss. I didn't know how to use string floss until a dentist taught me how either, but now I can use it just fine. I would suggest you use these things however the dentist says you should.

@NervousUSA Thank you. I will use either the string floss or the interdental brushes however the dentist says I should. I just hope I will remember how to use them and I have dexterity problems and autism. I'm glad the dentist showed you how to use string floss.
