Please excuse the title, but its a way of grabbing attention, don't you think? Just thought I'd let those of you in the title know that my consultant's appointment has actually been brought forward to this Wednesday! Now I'm panicking though, yes it's good news, but having had one doctor (at my surgery) and one dental nurse (on a helpline), tell me that they don't think anything can be done for my gagging problem, I'm scared  [smiley=scared.gif] that she might actually agree with them. [smiley=frightened.gif] The problem is still changing though, as I now also have sore lumpy spots appearing under my tongue! I think my mouth is trying to make sure that the consultant will find something wrong with me! I'm keeping my  8-) that I will get some kind of good news. BTW, hope Chicago was fun! Roll on St. Patrick's Day.  [smiley=drunk.gif]

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for up-dating us on your appointment. It IS good news that you are being seen sooner than expected. Try not to panic Arthur, it is a CONSULTANT you're seeing.............. not a GP or a voice at the end of the phone.

Fingers crossed for you Arthur 8-) Please let us know how you get on.

Hi Arthur. Finally catching up with the board. Chicago was fine, the worst part was the flight delays :( I had a beer before the flights, but than sat on the runway waiting to take off. I didn't notice discomfort though.

I am so glad to hear that you have an appointment tomarrow [smiley=jumping.gif] Believe me I totally understand the waiting and trying to find out what is going on. Best of luck to you. I am keeping my fingers crossed 8-) that they will be able to help you.

Keep us posted

Thanks happy and thanks freakout, it's nice to know you're thinking of me. I feel for people when they have appointments/treatment coming up, but when it's me, [smiley=frightened.gif] [smiley=scared.gif] :'( [smiley=confused.gif] and all the others too! I wish it was this time tomorrow, but I'll try to keep my chin up, I'm really glad I found this site, I don't think I could get through without it. Only 13 hours and 20 minutes to go...  [smiley=hiding.gif]

Arthur - best of luck for tomorrow 8-)! I'm hoping the consultant will be able to figure out what's wrong, or if there is anything that can be done to alleviate the situation. Let us know how it goes!!

Thanks lets, I'd forgotten just how bad nerves can get, but they're all working overtime this morning! (I won't go into details). I can't wait to get it all over with, so that I can (hopefully) relax and let you all know what's going on. [smiley=frightened.gif]

:) PHEW!!!, that's over with, now I can breathe again. Well, it's a tale of two halves, on the one hand, I wasn't laughed at, or virtually ignored, like I feel I have been in the past. On the other hand, I had an X-ray and a blood test, the X-ray shew nothing unusual, and the blood test I have to wait for the results of. (Funny thing is, I have to go back in 4 weeks, on the same day and at the same time as my original appointment!) However, I don't hold out much hope of the blood test showing anything up as every blood test I have ever had, has been negative, even when there is something wrong. But at least, the future looks bright, no I have had nothing done and there is no idea what it could be yet. But yes, I have been promised that 'we' will keep trying to find out what it could be and 'maybe' something could be done to treat it, what that could be though is well, your guess is as good as mine...At least she didn't call me 'Sweet Pea' lol!

Once again ladies, thanks for your support, I couldn't have done it without you. [smiley=grouphug.gif]

Awww, you mean she didn't call you Sweet Pea??? lol. I am glad that at least she is trying to find out what is going on [smiley=jumping.gif] Hopefully she will be able to help you 8-) Keep us posted :)

I'm glad the consultants took your concerns seriously, and that she is trying to find out what's going on :). It may just turn out to be one of those weird things that miraculously disappears one day virtually overnight, who knows - I really hope that this will be the case for you!

Thanks lets, I hope so too. It is unfortunate that there is nothing much to see in my mouth, but I am definitely getting symptoms from something somewhere, as I have just come back from throwing up less than five minutes ago as the old problem of something in my throat gets to an unbearable point, so I hope that has relieved the problem for now. My two lower teeth are just about the worst thing so if they fall out overnight I may make a miraculous recovery, if not I shall have to get something done to them somehow, I don't think anyone believes me about them as to me they are sharp but no one else can see how. It's the old thing, something in your eye/mouth/ear is ten times bigger to you than it is to anyone else. So if they can't be filed down/restraightened/removed officially, well, like I say I'll have to get something done somehow.  Sorry that I'm all down again, but even my consultant said that there's no point filing them down as I'll keep asking for them to take off another bit, then another and so on. How do you get through to someone who already seems to have made up their mind what's wrong with you, before you even tell them?! Never mind arthur dental, I feel more like Mr Angry today. >:( (Ignore me everyone, it's just the tongue symptoms talking). I'm off to get [smiley=drunk.gif] now.

Have you considered giving something like hypnosis a try (to alleviate the symptoms)? It can work for some physical ailments, so it might be worth looking into :).

Yes I have, in fact I'm seeing a lady about that very thing on Wednesday, so it might help. I'm a lot better today, so not quite so weird as I was yesterday! Sorry about that, but posting stuff like that helps to 'get it off my chest' so to speak.  :)

Hi happy, Thanks for the interest, I'm not so bad at the moment, as this thing now comes and goes a bit, (thank goodness) I've just come to the end of a cold which gave me such a sore throat and nose, that it took my mind off everything else. But now I'm getting back to normal, the old tooth-digging-into-tongue thing is back as well. About 10 days ago my tongue started bleeding where the tooth digs in but that has now stopped, I just hope it does something like that when I next see my specialist on April 12th. Regarding what I said to lets about hypnosis, I hoped that maybe I could get something on the NHS, but that's not to be, I'll have to dig deep if I'm going to go down that road! Hope all's well with you, regards, arthur. :)
