Time for my six month check up with the dentist tomorrow and the anxiety is growing. I’ve been going every three months for cleanings. My question is this: if the hygienist saw a suspicious area during a cleaning, would she have the dentist take a look at it right then or would she note it in my chart and wait until my next checkup? i haven’t been told that there any problems, but my anxiety is doing the “what if” thing!

The support of this forum is the only reason I can even go to the dentist! Thank you so much for being there.

@LauraQ68 Hi Laura, I think she would most likely say something to the dentist. Just an idea, you might be able to take control of the situation by asking her if she sees a suspicious area, and telling her if you want to discuss it with the dentist or not, also.

@NervousUSA Thank you so much for your reply! Especially about the taking control by asking questions.

Just an update: my visit today went perfectly. No problems! My worry was for nothing. All the buildup of fear in my mind was for nothing. I am so relieved! Thanks again to this forum for being there.
