i don't want to over brush but since i am very prone to decay probably due to my acidic saliva, i brush minimum of 3 times a day, morning/mid-day/night. i floss after brushing and brush again after flossing, because the first time round, there is usually some food caught in between the gaps, and i gently brush again after the flossing to take care of that area which i presume the initial brushing has missed.

am i overdoing it? i have had extensive fillings and had some root canals and crowning done and i don't want those areas around it to start decaying again. as it is, even after a root canal and fillings done to my pre-molar, i see a start of a decay just 3 weeks after. it's too soon, so i want to take care of it more. but i figure i might be over brushing and hurting the dentine (or what's left of it or the filling) and exposing the gum also to the toothpaste too often. i brush with the correct technique and use an extra soft toothbrush.
thank you in advance.:waves:

3 times a day should be plenty, you really need to look at your diet though, that's got at least as much of an impact on your decay rates than your tooth brushing routine.

Thank u Gordon, so you are saying what we eat, eg. Simple sugar products/ medication, etc., in our diet affects the composition of our teeth's strength and not just the sugar landing on the teeth surface? Hope I got what you are saying right. Do you have any suggestion what might be good for a healthy diet for better teeth? Thank you so much for your patience again in answering this.

There are a load of threads and tips on here about tooth friendly diets.

Basically you should avoid snacking between meals as much as you can, keep sweet things to after meals and avoid fizzy drinks as much as you can.

It sounds like you're taking care of your teeth really well. Perhaps the decay is caused by something else, such as your diet. If you tend to consume lots of acidic or sugary foods and drinks it could be causing the cavities. Ensure that you use a toothpaste which contains fluoride which will strengthen your teeth.

You could also use a product called Tooth Mousse.
It's a cream that you apply to your teeth which helps to prevent decay and keep the pH of your mouth at a healthy level. It tastes really good too! In Australia, you can only buy it from the dentist. Not sure where you can buy it in other countries though.

thank YOU so much, scarlett!
i see that the mousse is available in singapore too. i will look out for it. hope the dentist will sell them to me, without me having to sit in a new dental chair, as i see that it's sold by dentists only.:you-rock::thankyou:
