I have sensitivity to hot food/liquids a couple of times per day for 2 months now. The endodontist did a bite test (negative), hammer test (negative) and ice test. She was deciding which lower molar was problematic and I feel the pain isn't coming from the last molar like she believes, but the molar adjacent to it. Can I be mistaken? She told me the rear molar has a small crack and the only test that indicated the very rear molar was the ice test in which I had a few extra seconds of sensitivity. Should I proceed with the rear tooth even I believe the pain is coming from an adjacent tooth??

I'm going on a cruise in 3 weeks and I'm anxious as to whether I should address this now or after the cruise. I've needed one root canal in the past and had a painful tooth ache. I just fear it could turn into this on a cruise ship. If I wasn't traveling, I would be waiting on it!

Thanks!

There are a few more tests the endodontist could do, heat test, test cavity electronic pulp test, which might narrow things down a bit more.

Thanks for responding so quickly! She did one pass with a heat test and stopped. I didn't feel anything but a little warmth. Perhaps the equipment wasn't working properly. I'm starting to understand how difficult it can be for an endodontist.

Amen to that one, getting the right tooth is the (relatively) easy bit :-)
