Hi, I hope someone can help me with some advice. I had a filling replaced in my lower left molar, which consequently became infected. I had an emergency appointment but by the time the dentist had explained my options (root canal but they thought that wouldn't be a good option as theres not much tooth left, or extraction) they said there wasn't enough time to proceed with an extraction. I've been given an appointment for the end of January and I think I'm on the cancellation list.

I've had a 5 day course of antibiotics, the tooth pain is gone but I have a lump under my jaw that hurts to swallow, but my question is, is it fine to wait 6 weeks, what should I look out for as potential issues? I was extremely reluctant to agree to any procedure as I felt the dentist had caused this issue and I couldn't trust them but have started to come to grips with losing the tooth.

Should be fine for a bit. Warning signs would be increasing pain, swelling etc.
