Hi,

I just learned of the intraosseous injections in dentistry and wondered why it is not performed more? If this is a painless way to get numb can insurance fork out the money if a different set up is necessary?

I tried it for a while, but my biggest problem with it is that there was no way to tell if it had worked or not before getting started with the handpiece, no tell-tale numbing of the lips and surrounding areas. Since most of my phobic and special needs patients won't take kindly to unsuccessful anaesthesia I kind of gave up on it.
Set up costs are minimal, you need some perforators and matching needles, around a hundred pounds sterling.

It's not any more painful or painless than competently delivered standard local.
