Hi, I havent posted on here for years as I’ve avoided treatment! I have a lower tooth which has been trouble since it was filled and developed infection in November. I had been going to a new dentist and hygienist for a year, built up a good trust with hygienist and when I went to see dentist he was awful, told me I’d have to have rtc as extraction would be awful! I’ve now found another dentist who also works/lectures at Birmingham Dental Hospital with tricky cases. He offers sedation in a practice and I’m booked in for Friday for extraction under sedation. I’m terrified it won’t work, I’ll still feel everything etc!

I was terrified before I first had IV, but I've had it twice now and never felt a thing apart from the needle going in and an aching jaw as I came around the second time (my mouth had been open for 2 hours). Couldn't remember anything either. I suggest reading the IV stories on this site. Really, it's great and changed my fears about dentistry.

@feelingbetter thank you so much! Hopefully this will be fast and a good way to try it.

@feelingbetter So the sedation was fabulous! I lay there thinking its not working! Then looked at the clock and 25 minutes had passed. No recollection at all. I’m now on my 2nd after extraction and as I expected panicking about healing etc but know I can have treatment if I need it.
