Jaw pain 5 days after extraction

Had a lower very broken tooth extracted 5 days ago but in the last 2 days have developed jaw pain that stopped me sleeping last night! The dentist used some kind of instrument that was like a staple gun feeling against my gum I guess to loosen it in the jaw where it was broken off so low. I'm really worried something is wrong with my jaw bone!!
