Jaw pain after a month

I am dar from home on vacation. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago. I still have a large hole on my right gums, so I have been chewing on my left side. Now after 5 weeks of no pain, my jaw hurts on the left side when opening my mouth, eating, etc. It's freaking me out that I have an infection or something.
Would jaw pain occur after 5 weeks from over use it would that signal an infection?
