So I have a bottom partial denture and 3 days ago had my top partial done, I’m in quite a bit of pain with top partial from my gums, I can’t stop gagging with it my bottoms feel normal now but really struggling to adapt to the top set the plate feels so big I can’t eat properly as can’t bite down as it causes so much pain, both top and bottoms are feeling really loose, I hate when they aren’t in I can’t even look at myself in the mirror I feel so ugly my husband has been amazing and so supportive while I have a meltdown everyday I think he deserves better then me, please tell me it gets easier with time because at the minute it doesn’t seem that way

Hi Zara_B, it will get easier with time. However, it is very normal to need few adjustments with a partial before it feels right. It doesn’t sound right to have so much pain. Would seeing your dentist be an option?

thank you for your reply, I am due back next week for a check up so will ask them, I just want to be able to speak properly and eat properly

Of course you do! And you should be able to do that with your dentures. Believe me, people popping in to have dentures adjusted is super normal and some need more visits than others. I know you have better things to do, but it‘s really worth it.
