Can someone help please. can a reaction to zoloft cause gum swelling. Right in the front of mouth in between 2 teeth gums swollen (bottom gums). No pain, bleeding at all. Dentist said there was a real bad plaque build up he cleaned a week ago but gums still swollen and its only right there int he front. He said may be blood pressure medication but I been on it for 2 years and never noticed this before. I was under the impression that after cleaning and plaque removal (there was a bit there) that it would go down? please any advice i would appreciate.

It hasn't been a documented issue with that particular drug. Are you taking anything else?

I am taking medication for blood pressure but thats it. I have been on it for about 2 years nw and I have never noticed any swelling in my gums before. If the plaque build up was bad enough can that cause gum swelling and if so is it possible that it can take more than one deep cleaning to fix any infection that may have been starting. THe dentist thinks that it what caused my tooth displacment at the point of swelling as well.

Blood pressure drugs can definitely cause localised swelling of the gums in the presence of plaque, so there's the culprit.

It's not an infection, more a response to the plaque toxins. It might not resolve with simple scaling/cleaning.
