When I moved to Seattle a little over ten years ago, the wonderful folks in this forum helped me find a great dentist. I'm hoping you can help me again. I moved to Omaha, NE about a year ago and I've been putting off finding a dentist because it's such a daunting task. I checked the recommendations page but didn't find anything for Omaha.

I need to find someone who understands and can cope with anxiety and panic - preferably someone who uses nitrous and will prescribe anti-anxiety meds to take the day of the appointment. I also need a dentist that's skilled in advanced anesthetic techniques - I have an anatomical abnormality and an extra nerve in my lower jaw that was apparently the cause of the horrible experiences I had when I was younger.

So, if anyone can recommend a fantastic dentist in Omaha (or Bellevue, or Council Bluffs) I would be most appreciative.

:welcome: back, great to hear that you managed to find and keep a great dentist for so many years (are they still listed? we had a bit of a clear-out of the database recently because so many dentists' details had changed).

There used to be a dentist listed in Omaha, NE, but she has since moved to Arizona, so unfortunately there are no listings at present :(. The good news is that over the last 10 years, it has become easier to contact dentists directly. SolitudeIsBliss wrote a brilliant post just a short while ago with tips which you can find here:

Keeping my fingers crossed that you will find a wonderful dentist in Omaha quickly !

Vryan,

I agree with Letsconnect, #1 thats a great post from solitude. and #2. It is easier to contact dentists and find who might be a good fit.

Just an idea. when I was doing some research on dentists who might be good with anxiety, I would find fb pages that looked warm and personal with good reviews then I sent a fb message (now not all keep up on their page, but you can kind of tell by the post dates who does)..

Here is an example of what I wrote, and I got several good responses a few directly from the dentists themselves and even after hours..

i"m a very nervous patient who is quite ashamed of my teeth situation. Do you offer an appt to come and meet with the dentist before any treatment of exam is done, and how much would you charge for this? How do you deal with anxious patients? Do you have a certain dentist or hygenist that might be best with nervous patients. i'm not even sure where to start . I need alot of work and because of fear have put it off. Thanks

Maybe a way to find a good option or possibly a few choices of someone who might be good. :) Put the needs you mentioned above in your message too if you want to be more specific with them .

I've just tried to find you someone using a UK site but sadly only got a single listing for the USA, however you might find a similar site for your search? they list phobia certified dentists. Best of luck with your search!
