Loose tooth needs RCT

I have a tooth that needs a root canal. I'm about 98% sure that it's loose. Will the RCT tighten it back up or will it need to be extracted? I won't get a treatment plan from my dentist for another 2.5 weeks (super booked up due to covid) and I'm so worried about losing the tooth in the meantime!
