After cancelling my appointment twice, I finally got my lower right wizze removed with LA only. I would have loved IV or nitrous but it wasn't in my budget.
My lower left was removed 7 years ago by my general dentist in the UK was a 2 hour battle and led to me passing out. So I was petrified to go through that again!
This time I had the same oral surgeon who removed a broken root canal for me 6 weeks ago. He was great.
I have trouble/take a long time/higher dose needed getting numb with LA-so this adds to my fear.
It did take 2.5 times the amount and a 45 min wait to become numb, but the surgeon was patient and understanding. The nurse gave me a pillow to squeeze.
When I was finally numb I felt a small pinch when he started, but then literally 30 seconds later the tooth was out. I couldn't believe it. No pain and minimal bleeding. It was fully erupted but badly decayed.
Now 48 hours later I have had hardly any pain. Some aches, so have taken ibuprofen when needed and iced regularly incase of any swelling (but none so far
).
On a liquid diet of soup, yoghurt, and protein shakes. And I know it's still quite early in terms of healing. But I just wanted to share my experience and hope it helps others.
