Hi,
I am scheduled for my mandibular tori removal next week, very nervous, wanting to cancel ...
But, I've wanted them out for 4 years & can't decide.
They DO bother me ... and make my depression/anxiety worse I think?
However... I am stuck because even the surgeon said I didn't need to have them out (but I'm the one aggravated... my tongue goes there, both sides, constantly... they get inflamed, etc).
Any advice??
Also ... I don't really want to watch a video. But do they shave the bone down, or pull the whole thing out?

P.S. I'm pretty nervous about the sedation... unsure if it's IV or general? I'm in US ... which is more typical? I do know I can go home after surgery ... someone else drives. Andy advice appreciated!

Shave the bone down. It's a bit of excess bone, there's nothing to "pull out" like a tooth.

Sorry you'd need to ask them. Do you have to fast for a while before the appointment? Usually GA absolutely requires this, IV generally doesn't (but occasionally does, just to be awkward!).

@Gordon thank you ... I just called them to verify. It's IV ... & I do need to fast for 8 hours prior.

@Gordon ... the medication in the IV is versed, ketamine & propofol (spelling of all?)
Should I be nervous with any of these?

No, they're all pretty standard sedation drugs with a fairly wide margin of safety.
