Hi

I have just had another crown fitted and there is a small margin along the crown and gum line at the front of tooth, the dentist said this wouldnt be a problem and that it would be easier to keep the base of the crown clean but I am worried that over time the tooth on show will start to decay.

Is this usual to have a small margin or should this be something I should query with my dentist?

Thank you

From a dental health point of view, it's better if the margin is visible above the gum line. From an aesthetic point of view, then it's a bit worse.

If the aesthetics don't bother you, then it's a good thing. Less chance of decay and gum disease because you can keep it cleaner if it's above the gum line.

Thank you so much I have been really worrying that decay will set in to the tooth that is visible :)
