After going in to get a redo of an impression, somehow my dentist found a crack on my root canal molar, this was after she had me all prepared to get the impression so i was in the dentists' chair for almost an hour and was ready to get this impression done, but then she wants an xray taken- so says i should go to a specialist to get it checked out (i'm on disability and money is tight and i'm sure i will have to pay 100% of this!),so not only may this be another $500 plus, but also have to go back to get this crack fixed (another hour plus!) and then go the impression and then get a new crown. I could get this tooth out but i really don't want to do that if it doesn't need to and just because i am poor, i don't want to lose a molar due to money, i can find the money just not happy with the amt. of work needing done and also the time i will still spend at the dentist! I'm not happy with my dentist now, she has wasted my time but i guess i can't go to another now she has started.:( Is it best to pull a tooth if it is cracked or get it fixed if it is fixable?

It would have been worse if she'd found the crack before fitting an expensive crown... hardly her fault and she's doing the right thing.
Some cracked teeth are fixable and others aren't, it's hard to be sure without seeing, depends where the crack is, how deep it goes and so forth.

okay, thanks. I just don't see how she didn't notice it last week and was wondering if it could happen when shaving down my tooth, it had already been shaved and she seemed to do a lot more last week, she had me go through a half hour of that impression string before noticing it, that is what annoys me most, she wasted both our times and my stress, she should've had a good look at the tooth before even starting that part! she did look at my tooth and even told me it was good and she would get it fixed instead of taking it out. I never went without my crown at any time and wore the temp. the whole time, isn't that supposed to protect my tooth?

Cracks are sneaky little buggers and aren't that easy to spot. In an ideal world she might have seen it first but shit happens as you guys say.

Yes, but as above :-)

okay, will wait to see if i can get an endo. dentist this month and go from there.
