My lower right second premolar have been having pain upon chewing since a week ago. I went to the dentist today to clect my retainer and got my dentist to check it out. Xray taken and bite test done. I was diagnosed with a cracked tooth on one of the cusp. Dentist shaved down the bite on that tooth and told me to monitor it. If it goes away, then no treatment needed. But if I still have pain whenever I chew, I got to go back and have a crown done.
That tooth have no decay and it's still vital. Will crowning a vital tooth cause the tooth to die off? Dentist said that if crowning doesn't help with the pain, I'll need to get a root canal done. Will a root canal solve the whole issues of cracked tooth?
