So after unknowingly suffering with gum disease and my front teeth crumbling and rotting away, I've now had extractions of all but 3 of my front teeth and yesterday got my temporary denture. I am so happy with the result!

@Clare020883 aww they look amazing . I have a partial denture also and I actually prefer it too my normal teeth which I hate !

How did they remove your broken teeth? Did you have just LA ? Or was you sedated

They look so nice now !

@Clare020883 that looks fabulous, well done on an amazing change :)

Oh I was sedated to high heaven 😂 propofol and midazolam as severely dental phobic! One had to be cut out of my gum as was only a root left behind. But you know what, I didn't even take one paracetamol afterwards! I probably could have but it wasn't bad enough pain to feel the need to. They did a great job!

@Clare020883 oh well done ! What’s sedation like ? I will be hopefully having that but feel scared . What’s the recovery like ? Aww it honestly looks so good now . How are you finding eating with them in ? I’m use too mine now

I was like you and terrified of sedation, even though I've had it before, I've only had midazolam on its own but was freaked at the thought of having propofol with it as I'd not had it before and am terribly anxious about medication. But because I had to had deep root scaling as well as the extractions and a big back molar all replaced and re-done, I needed to be under for 2 hours. I was told it was safer to have the 2 medications together than midazolam on its own. I don't remember anything! I was gone within 10 seconds of the IV going in! Recovery was fine, like I said I didn't even need to take any pain relief! I did however sleep for 16 hours afterwards 😂

I've worn a denture for the last 20 years but am used to a chrome one which I could eat with but as this is temporary, I was told it could only be acrylic and not going to lie, I cannot eat with it in so have to take it out and attempt to eat with the 3 front teeth and one back tooth I've got left, it's not easy but at the moment still easier than eating with the denture!
