Hi, I'm a 27 year old bloke with rather bad anxiety, on top of a phobia of dentists. A couple days ago a lump began to form on my upper right gum, and it's quite uncomfortable. I was wondering if any of the dentists here could tell me what it is and if I should be concerned? Attached is two pictures of the aforementioned lump, cheers.

It's an abscess. Go to a dentist as soon as you can.

@Gordon Cheers mate. I'm guessing it's not going to go away on its own? Not what I wanted to hear, but what you want and what you need are two different things. 😅

No, it's not. It might burst which will take some of the pain away but the root cause (sorry!) is still going to be there.

In case anyone is morbidly curious, it's still getting bigger, I'll be booking an appointment asap.
