I have severe gum problems they are infected and have deep pockets from 5 to 10.
After two consultation with periodontist they recommend the LANAP procedure.
The treatment plans I was given is nearly $9000,which is not what I expected and is out of my reach.I live in Florida in the Tampa Bay area.
Is that the normal price for LANAP?!

LANAP is very expensive. There is also a lot of conflicting information about the procedure. Some people have shared their experiences here with it in the past.

Hi Doki,

Did you also receive an offer for a conventional periodontal therapy, one that uses metal instruments rather than laser?

Yes I did, for bone grafting and some other procedures the cost was more than the laser procedure

Bone graphing is different. I am asking about having a cleaning in the conventional way rather than with laser.
If you haven’t received such an offer from your current dentist, I would suggest contacting other practices of oral hygienists (if you don’t have such a practice, you can ask also regular practices, but it is about the cleaning only so there is no need for a dentist in this situation) and ask for a price estimation for a conventional cleaning. No need to visit the practices for that.
Sounds reasonable?

My current dentist refered me to periodontist, and I was told o have severe bacterial infection deep in my gums that is destroying the structure of the bone and, I have a lot of bone loss more than 50%,the way to clean the bad bacteria is using the Laser a conventional cleaning won't do it,that's what I was told by the specialists I consulted with

Hi there, I think going for a second opinion might be a good thing.. there should always be options with pros and cons so if anyone would tell me there is only one treatment that can help me and it happens to be a very expensive and not too usual one, I would want to double check. Not a dentist, but bacterial infection deep in gums destroying the structure of the bone sounds to me like the description of periodontal disease so a deep cleaning should also be among the options you get offered.
