I've never had IV sedation done, and that is what I'm going to have tomorrow.
There's some growing stress about that. I'll be able to make it to the office just fine, I'll get in the chair just fine. The IV? No problemo with the needle. Nothing about that bothers me...it's the idea of being conscious. They assure me that I will be so sedated that I won't remember it when I wake up. I'm confident that is the case, I'm just a little nervous.
I've had anesthetic for other types of surgeries before, but never for a dental surgery. I've had an extraction done before on a molar once, but was never sedated. They just numbed me up very good. I didn't feel anything but some strong pulling (which didn't hurt at all surprisingly). This is another "minor" extraction in the back...and I can't imagine it'll be any worse than when I was awake for it during the other type. Maybe I'm just being too optimistic...
