Hello everyone,

So glad that I found this place. I have a question. Well, I had my teeth removed on Nov. 20th. Right now I just have my immediate dentures, I think is what they are called. Got my teeth done at Affordable Dentures and am pleased. I had 19 teeth pulled, 5 of them complex, and I went for sedation. Glad that I did, and I had no problems with it even at my age, 62. Later on after I get my better dentures, I plan on getting the bottom dentures the snap-in kind.

Anyway, my question is this: will I ever be able to eat a hamburger again? It's always been my favorite food. That's no joke. One thing that I remember is, is my daddy used to have dentures, and he ate sandwiches and hamburgers and steak. Right now I'm having problems eating things, and I know articles say that it takes time.

Thanks,
Tiza :)

This is Tiza again. I meant to add that I hated going to the dentist. I had a very bad experience once when I got a tooth pulled several years ago, so needless to say, I never went back to that dentist. Then back on Oct. 26, I had to go and get a tooth pulled to another dentist and my blood pressure was high because of anxiety. So he gave me some of the laughing gas, which sure did help and made my BP go down to a good place. Well, I had to end up getting two pulled. This was before I had the rest of my teeth pulled and got my dentures in Nov. I had to go because that specific tooth was abscessed and caused me to have a bad sinus infection.

Now when I got all of my teeth pulled in Nov., the anesthetic dentist was so nice. He made me comfortable.

I have upper and lower dentures and I eat the hell out of hamburgers! You'll get there, I promise. It'll be easier when you have your permanent ones made because they will be more of an ideal fit. But once you have adjusted to dentures, eating will gradually become easier and easier. :)

It'll all come with time. Each person is different of course, but I have no trouble eating most foods. Apples aren't possible though, unless I cut them up. Good thing I'm not too bothered about apples! :-)

Steven,

Thanks for your reply. I know that I just have to be patient. :)

Plus! While relearning to eat you're almost guaranteed to lose weight! I lost 3 stone and haven't put it back on. I needed to lose weight though. :-)
