Hi Stephen here I am new to this forum I need some help. I have to get tooth number #15 extracted. I am nervous as heck. I am bump in that tooth that's draining. The dentist told me my general dentist that I could wait to get the extraction done to after the holidays and the weekend. I could wait a few weeks if need be I bleed a lot and I'm wondering what can your oral surgeon do besides gauze to stop the bleeding. I've heard of hemostat agents can be used. If anyone know what that is. Please respond. The thing I'm most nervous about is the bleeding after and how do I get it to stop immediately? What can the oral surgeon do besides stitches and gauze. I can't seem to find any oral surgeons that know what hemostat gauze is.

That's a surprise. I assume you're not talking to the actual OS but an assistant of some sort? They maybe call it something like surgicel (a trade name that is commonly used to describe the product, like a hoover for a vacuum cleaner)

Bleeding is usually fairly easily controlled in the mouth. There are a variety of things that can be done and they're very effective.
