Hi, just looking to try and calm myself down tbh. I am due to meet a Maxillofacial surgeon on the 23rd.
I just want to be put to sleep and all teeth removed and pray to feel no more pain again. Why are we given teeth in the first place?
I have been in agony since December, emergency dentist gave me antibiotics. Couldn’t xray me as I kept heaving. Strong gag reflex, pain went after taking the full course. Within a matter of days abscess, went to a&e. Was given 10days of antibiotics. Now my cheek feels like there’s a mass behind it and wondering if it’s infected again. I don’t even know why I’m writing this but just looking for like minded people to help me to calm down, tired of feel so alone.

Hi Corndog:welcome:,

this sounds so painful just from reading :( the experience with the emergency dentist was surely not nice. In my imagination emergency dentists are not the most patient ones. Do you have a dentist you trust do you mostly go for emergencies? Fingers crossed for the time until 23rd to pass quickly - you have been suffering with that tooth for a very long time it sounds.
Teeth can be cool, you can eat with them and make you look better when you smile. With a good dentist and regular checkups, they can be pretty low maintenance, but can sadly turn into an absolute nightmare if these things are not accessible or if the fear is too big to access them :(

Please feel free to write and vent here as much as helpful - you don't have to deal with this alone! :grouphug:

@Enarete hi, Thankyou for your message I appreciate it. I don’t know how much more I can take of this. My mental state is not in a good way at all, I just want some help so badly. I think I’m just going to collapse when I finally get to the hospital on the 23rd, everything in my life feels on hold at the moment it’s awful. 😢

I've suffered from abscess before. The pain is severe and all consuming. I remember it well and I feel for you.

I found that a mouthful of cold water would help to soothe. Until it warmed up. Then I'd spit into a basin and take another cold sip of water. Rinse and repeat. But with this method I couldn't sleep at all.

In the end the only way I could get sleep is by drinking strong alcohol until I couldn't feel as much pain anymore. Swirling with the whisky was also good, it was nice and cool and also had some temporary numbing effects to the gums. Also tastes nice.

Anyway, if you can get to an emergency dentist just get the tooth taken out. It sounds like this tooth may be a continuing problem for you. I know from experience that the tooth can seem fine for a while and go wrong all over again. And worse than before.
