Basically I’m on the nhs waiting list to have 6 teeth extracted under general anaesthetic. But no one knows how long it will take - I’ve been waiting 6 months already and still no idea on time. It’s no one’s fault, waiting lists for anything are awful because everywhere is so overstretched. But one of the teeth I’m meant to be having pulled has started giving horrible pain - the pain was minimal up until now. But now it’s constant throbbing and keeping me awake. The idea of having it pulled whilst awake rather than under general terrifies me, but equally I’m not sure I can wait much longer. I’m so scared it’ll hurt really badly which is making me want to chicken out of asking for an appointment.

@Chronicallyhonest that sounds like an awful long wait, they should at least be able to give you some sort of idea of how long the current waiting list is . As an alternative to awake vs. general anaesthesia, would IV sedation be an option for you? In some areas of the UK there may be an option for referring you for IV sedation on the NHS, or if you can afford it, you could see a dentist who offers this privately. There's some more information about IV sedation here:

@Chronicallyhonest I waited about 3/4 months . Can you maybe call and find out ? I was getting infections so they hurried mine up . I have a tooth that needs taking out it’s brown and dead and I hate it but I am petrified as I was asleep when they did my other teeth . Clove oil works for some relief also salt washes and there’s lots of numbing gels that you can buy from boots / Superdrug . I use things like that when my tooth hurts ( usually a week before I’m due on my teeth hurt so bad ) . Hope it gets done soon for you.
