I have had several dental issues over the past few years. Mainly from 2 crowns that were prepared properly before fixing. I have been seeing a private endodondist which has cost me nearly 2k. I have also had a wisdom tooth extracted. All treatment is now complete but i am awaiting the permanent crown which the dentist has said will need time to settle before applying permanently.
So for about a month i was pain free but now i have toothache on another tooth which is intermittent. I am only taking painkillers now and then but when i went back for him to assess, he took an xray and said he couldnt see any issues. it is mainly reacting to cold sensitivity but throughout the day i have a dull ache.
This is really starting to affect my day to day life. Do you think it would be a good idea to get a second opinion.

Why not? It's always useful to have a second pair of eyes on a problem.
