Over a month wait for extraction

Hello,
I have a tooth that is broken below the gum line. I am very anxious that it is going to get infected. I have very bad needle phobia but called to schedule the extraction per my dentist. The earliest I can get in is Jan 9. Anything I can do in the meantime to prevent infection / pain? I am currently not in any pain and the tooth did not hurt when it broke.

Just keep it as clean as you can, warm salty water mouthwashes will help if you swirl them around the area. Don't worry about it. Stress makes it more likely to cause issues
