Pain after filling

I had a filling a white one on Tuesday. It feels like it aches today is this normal? My dentist said it was very deep cavity and he put some medication in it after he had drilled it out not sure what it was ,, he also said it might need to come out or a root canal Any advice please I pray it’s worked it took me 4 years to get the courage to go
