hi hi and thank you in advance to the dentists who take time to be in this forum helping us x

i have two things i want to ask about

i have 2 teeth that are broken and need extractions, 2 teeth that need fillings and a general clean, that i am planning on doing under iv sedation whenever i can get myself not in a suicidal state from thinking about it. the dentist seems lovely, but its not logical. my phobia comes from developmental trauma from when i was very little

i have a huge fear of my teeth to start hurting, even tho i was told i would only start having problems in about a year or two and even though i am not in pain, sometimes at the end of the day my teeth feel a lil bit more (i dont even know if sensitive is the right word) , but again no pain , only once in a while (once a week maybe ) very mild and only lasts a few minutes . but again its always enough to send me in a panic where i feel like i will faint and throw up , and this has caused me to struggle eating and brushing . i know the solution is iv sedation but what i wanted to ask is . in the mean time , what would you reccomend i do in case i do have any pains or sensitivity ? or any word of advice on this at all is appreciated because idk what to do short term

for the iv sedation question , i am afraid to bail on my dentist and not allow the iv or walk out halfway, im afraid to remember, and im afraid to feel drunk type, is there anything you as the dentist would reccomend i do to prepare my nerves for the iv sedation day and any info on what the iv actually feels like ?

thank you in advance and i hope you reading this are having a lovely day/evening/night x

There's not a great deal you can do really, just brush them as well as you can manage and try to follow a tooth friendly diet as much as you can.

Lots of information here:

You could ask about a premed to take before the IV appointment, that can be helpful. You won't walk out halfway :-)

If it helps at all to hear this, having IV sedation to get a big filling done and my teeth cleaned was the best thing I ever did for myself. I remeber bits, but nothing bad- nothing hurt, IV was topped up at one point and honestly I had the best sleep of my life after! Good luck xx
