IMG_20241003_160720758.jpgim getting new metal partials done, my old ones 12/14 yrs old are no longer good. My dentist shaved off my small molars. He said he needed to make room for the new partial rests, attachments. However my bite changed. I notice it only when i have nothing on.

Right now i just have my temporary stayplate upper, but i have to rest from it during the day. I feel more comfortable. Now wearing a thin type guard to give me that support when i have nothing on since i have less support now. Its been hard to accept this change, by doctor said it was necessary, or else my partials would slide out.

My old upper was made by another doctor 14 yrs ago, and my old lower 12 yrs was made by my current doctor. For chrome partial dentures, can you reassure making space for the attachments and rest seats was necessary as my doctor said..just finally want to accept this change. I found a thin type guard that is helping when im resting from everything. Just want to reach full acceptance. I do want my new partials to fit well. Please assure

Yes, they are necessary in many cases.

@Gordon it was hard initially see i have tmj so this new bite is rougher on my jaw. But i wont notice it much more ahead since ill have my partials soon. I wear a thin type guard to give me that support, its working wonderfully. From what i remember when my partials fit well, i hardly was with nothing on since i could wear the partial all day until bedtime. I wont notice this change much when i get my partials, and i found relief thankfully. I want my partials to fit well and i know my doc knows what hes doing so ill cope the best i can. Thanks for reassuring !

I guess my problem was initially when i noticed this change, i did not like the bite chance since i have tmj its a more awkward position. I wish the partial could have been done without having to do that, but thats very unrealistic expectations.

My old upper 14 yrs old was made by another doctor. My current old lower is 12 yrs old, made by my current doctor. The only way would be to get a valplast but flexible dentures are not for me. Now my new partials will be made by my current doctor. Hes one of the best in my area.

I guess i have to trust in the process and accept it was done to make space for the new partials. I found relief thankfully and once i have my partials, wont be much of an issue. Thanks for confirming and reassuring.
