Possible dental abscess

I have developed a bump on the other side of my gums. I was wondering what it was as the only thing I can think of is it being an infection because as you can see in the picture, the molar below it is cracked. I will very soon get a root canal. The only pain I experience from it is if I press on it with my tongue. This is the 2 week duration having the bump.

Yes it's a dental abscess. It's unusual for them to pop out of the palate side like that, normally they come through the cheek side instead since the boney plate there is thinner.
