Post extraction infection

Hello, im petrified of dentist but last saturday i bit the bullet and had my tooth extracted! It took a long 1 and half hours and it has completely traumatised me! The dentist gave me antibiotics to start straight away and on tuesday i went back as it was still infected even though i was on anti biotics she cleaned and packed it and gave 5 more days of antibiotics! Well anyway...my tooths still really quite sore and i have a really salty taste coming from the extraction site and itchy skin on the outside of the mouth. The picture attached is now and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if it seems normal, i really dont want to be a nuisance to the dentist or go back if I dont have too. Thanks!!!

That looks OK to me, clearly a nasty extraction, so well done on getting through it. It's going to take a while for that socket to heal up unfortunately.

Thankyou! I have been to get it checked today and he's pretty sure the roots snapped and gone into my sinus! So reffered on with more anti biotics! Terrified of what they will do next!

That would be extraordinarily unlucky if it's gone into the sinus. The Max-Fac guys will decide whether to leave it in situ or retrieve it (that's normally a theatre job and you'll be asleep) but usually they'll just keep an eye on it.
