I had two teeth removed yesterday afternoon, one upper molar and one lower (#15 and 18 I think the dentist called them). The upper came out quickly, but the dentist had a very hard time getting the lower one out. After pulling with all his might, he finally decided to section it, and finally got it out. I've been bleeding since, though it has eased considerably. It's been 26 hours, and I still have some bleeding, though I wouldn't call it severe. Is it normal to have bleeding this long after a difficult extraction? Pain wise I'm not having much pain, but the lower jaw is quite stiff and swollen. I imagine this is to be expected as well? I've never had teeth removed before so I have no idea what to expect, and the sight of blood this long after the extraction worries me. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi :welcome: to the forum.

I think as long as it isn't too much blood it is fine. It is normal for your jaw to ache, try some ice packs on your face it might help with the swelling. Follow the aftercare instructions and when you rinse don't spit, let it dribble out of your mouth, don't use straws either or smoke. sucking and spitting can cause the clot to dislodge.

If you are worried about the bleeding or anything else do contact your dentist and ask their advice. I am not a dentist it is only my opinion.

All the best to you, let us know how you get on :butterfly:
