Please help! Today I had a broken tooth filled. The dentist was super confident. I asked him if I needed a crown or anything further and he said not at this stage he thinks that would be excessive.

I haven't had any pain, it was more preventative.

I got home had a rest then had a light dinner and discovered a small sand-like fragment of something in my mouth. The tooth looks perfectly fine.

Is this normal after a filling? Is it just a fragment from the smoothing process?

I'm scared that the tooth has chipped further but I can't see how. The dentist and his assistant were adamant it all went well.

Please help!

It's very normal to find the odd fragment in your mouth after a filling. I would always find a gritty little grain here and there in my mouth post-fillings. You're fine. :)
