Hello!

Not sure if anyone can offer a nervous patient any advice, but recently I had a deep filling replaced on one of my bottom wisdom teeth and have had some light discomfort in my lower jaw area, around the tooth, and up to my ear for the last few weeks. The work was done on June 22nd, and I had to go back a couple of times for adjustments. This past weekend I had my general checkup with x-rays, which showed that everything was good and healthy. I have no cold/hot temperature sensitivity, and it doesn't hurt when I bite down or chew. The discomfort isn't really painful, and hasn't gotten worse - it's more like a feeling that something is off and mildly achy.

I do know that I clench/grind at night, but I use an OTC night guard, and the tooth shouldn't be making contact with the one above.

Any thoughts on what it could be? I'm terrified of having to have my wisdom teeth extracted (I've been fortunate that there's space and they all came in normally), so I'm hoping this is something bad that's going to require something like that.

Thank you!

You could still be clenching and grinding during the day, I know I do when I'm really concentrating on something.
Also ask the dentist to check the bite on the problem tooth again, if it's a bit out then that could give you your symptoms.

Thank you so much! Will do.
