I am about to have a root canal in my upper first molar and am absolutely terrified.

I have a very deep filling that had been causing bad sensitivity since I got it a few months ago and ended up needing emergency treatment a couple of weeks ago which needs completing with a root canal.

I hate going to to the dentist and I'm terrified about the procedure and so worried that it will fail and that I'll need the tooth extracted one day. I'm only 25 and have otherwise had no problems with my teeth.

Any root canal success stories/reassurance would be really really appreciated.

Hi spottyladybug45,

I have a root canaled molar that has been okay for 22 years now. More often than not, a root canal will be fine. Is there anything in particular that you are terrified about when it comes to the procedure?

Hi, i had one this morning, first time!
To say i was paranoid was an understatement. The things people say, the way they react when you tell them... Wow
Now, yes theres a lot going on... But i felt nothing...
Even now, dosed up on paracetamol and ibuprofen... Im feeling no pain at all... Maybe it will hit me later?
I have to go back for part 2 on monday, hopefully thats not the bit people are refering too?? 😔

No, the second appointment should be easier again 😊

@spottyladybug45, if you're interested we've got a first-hand account of root canal treatment here:
