Root canal on wisdom tooth, extraction now?

I had a root canal on a wisdom tooth, about a year or 2 ago. Aabout a week ago it was painful to bite down on that tooth so i went to the dentist. They prescribed me antibiotics for a week as they saw infection but no fracture. In case this tooth needs to be extracted what is the procedure or procedures needed?

I had a wisdom tooth which had a root canal. It was an upper tooth. The dentist extracted it like any other molar. It went fine.

Should be the same as any other extraction.
