I had a root canal by an endodontic dentist on Tuesday. Luckily no discomfort or pain in tooth. But I've started to notice lately that after he filed my tooth down to prepare for a crown that the tooth is very sharp. To the point if I move my mouth the tooth cuts the side of my tongue.

My question was the tooth supposed to be filed smooth? Or will I have to deal with this sharpness until my general dentist can get me in at the end of the month?

No, it's supposed to be smooth. It'll take 2 minutes for your dentist to sort it, I'm sure they'll fit you in on Monday.
If you can't wait, take a clean emery board to the sharp edge, you won't do any damage.

Thank you so much for the reply, you've been a life saver. And have eased all my concerns and worries this is my first root canal and I'm terrified it won't work/fail so I'm kinda OCD and worried about everything. I was worried I'd do damage if I tried to smooth it out myself. So I went to Walmart and bought GUM Orthodontic Wax and put over the sharp pieces until I could see my endodontic dentist again. Is that safe to use?

Yes, that should work fine.
