Scared to get another root canal

Hi

I had a root canal (ul7) recently (April time) and it left me traumatised. I've had them in the past with minimal issues. I have started getting pain in my top right side and it feels like all the teeth are hurting. I have been told I need a root canal on my ur 6, however I'm not too confident with the outcome.

I had to tell the dentist of both the ul7 and ur6. I'm considering a holistic dentist, however I have no idea how they work and if its worthwhile. I'm scared of having a tooth extraction and I will have to stop working out too.

Sorry for the long rant. I'm just overwhelmed and overthinking everything.

I would appreciate any replies

Many thanks

Having multiple root canals, I cant tell you it will be easier. However its the less of two evils. One of my root canals had an infection and I just had the tooth pulled in prep for a dental implant. Good luck!

I also have a root canal on ul7 my only upper tooth root canal. My major pain was flossing and they gave a crown that was short on length causing huge gap. I remember the pain in gums was intense and took 3 to 4 months to subside.

Your current concern is ur6 but this is a lower molar where Im having my implant. Root canal work sucks, but if u pull it and get a bone graft dont worry about pain at all. In 30 to 40 mins they can pull and bone graft it. But you should be worried about waiting 1 year like me and eating a soft food diet. Keeping socket area clear and clean is a challenge. Its a daily struggle! I have lost 10 lbs w limited eating and stopped gym for 3 weeks. Its tough getting back into it without enough food energy and weigh loss. Alternatively, do the root canal and be good in a couple weeks. Ur6 is a significant tooth for eating so pull the tooth as a last resort.

Dont wait because if the pain gets worse you will need antibiotics. I once had to sleep in a chair 3 days straight till RCT appt cause i would get major throbbing head pain laying down. 🤔

Hi, you'd probably be much better off with an endodontist (root canal specialist) than with a holistic dentist. We have a page on root canal treatment here:

Can I ask what was traumatic about your last experience? (no need to answer this if you deliberately didn't want to dredge up bad memories)

Hi,

If you don’t trust your current dentist and the pain you are experiencing is manageable, going to see an endodontist would be a good thing.
please allow me to share with a video I made that might be relevant to you.
