Second step in extraction /implant process?

So six months ago I got the tooth extracted (hoping this was the worst part lol) got bone crystal put in and now it is time for the next step. I vaguely remember him telling me the next step is them drilling a rod into the tooth socket or something then having to let that engraft for a couple of months. So is that actually true bc it sounds quite painful lol. Thanks for any help
 
It does sound painful but it's not. It's a slow finicky process but not too bad for the patient. I'm sure several people here who've had it done will be happy to chip in their experiences.
 
The extraction was by far the worst part. The drilling for the implant is not bad. You are numb and it heals a lot more quickly.
