Long story short, I haven't been to the dentist in 15 years, first appointment was today. I think I am going to need a tooth removed and at least 1 root canal. I could barely stay in the chair I was crying and shaking so much, and this was just for a check up and xrays. According to my dentist the NHS don't do sedation for root canals any more, just tooth removal, is this right? Every time start thinking about having to have stuff done with just a local I burst into tears. :shame:

If its not available on the NHS any more, does anyone know the rough cost of going private for this?

Thank you

Not entirely correct. We do root canals under sedation all the time under sedation but privately. I think he meant extractions only under general anaesthetic?

Ball mark figure is roughly between £250-400 for the root canal and about £100 per sedation session. Prices usually vary from practice to practice.
