I have a dentist appointment coming up and my anxiety is through the roof. I have a cavity on the tip/side of one of my top left molars. I am worried they will have to give me a shot in the roof of my mouth. I've accepted the shots in my gums, I'll cry at that bridge when I get to it. But the roof of my mouth is something I feel will send me over the edge and break down. Should I really need a roof shot for a filling like this? I am terrified out of my mind right now.

No you shouldn't.

Even so, it honestly is not as bad as people seem to make out, given a competent dentist and gentle technique.

It's not nearly as bad as stepping on a Lego brick for instance :-)
