Hi,

I had my 2 lower wisdom teeth removed on wednesday (6 days ago) under a general as I was so nervous. I am still feeling pain now 6 days after the surgery, I am taking pain killers every 4 hours which take the edge off the pain but don't totally get rid of it. I just wanted to know if this was normal to experience pain for this long after the surgery and if I should go back to the hospital to get it checked?

Thanks

Hi Sunny79,

I would recommend you checked out as you may have dry sockets. This is not uncommon after wisdom tooth extractions.

Re: Help should i still be in pain?

Thanks for this, I went back to the hospital (8 days after surgey) and they cleaned one of the extraction sites out and packed it with cloves as they said it was dry socket! They didn't touch the other extraction site as I thought the pain wasn't as bad.

But now I am thinking that maybe I should have got them to do both as am noticing the pain more now that the other side has been packed (the clove packing has helped with the pain)

Any advice would be great as I am really worried I have dry socket in the other side now! Plus do you know how long the clove paking will last as they said it will dissolve so not sure if I will need to go back for more? they also gave me a syringe to try and clean myself?
