Slight slit mark to gum

I have been going to the dentist due to a build up of plaque still havent mastered the art of brushing teeth the right way and im 29 lol anyway i have a slit mark right under the tooth he filled witch started to collect food then a month ago started to ooze been told by same dentist but different bloke that i have a very bad case of gum die but i only have the problem on that tooth what he didnt tell me was how the slit got there and why the last time i went nothing was done regarding this surely they should of spotted the problem before it got this bad care

You'd be better off asking the dentist these questions, it's total guesswork for anyone here to try to answer them
