Smoking before oral surgery

Hi All:
I am so-o sorry that I keep pestering people with questions. I was just wondering if there are other smokers out there that have had to have oral surgery? I know that I shouldn't smoke, but right now smoking is all that helps to keep my nerves in check. I won't smoke after the surgery, but is it okay to smoke up until then? If I had to stop smoking now, I would go crazy! See, when I get worried, I smoke. And I am plenty worried right now...

Ideally, you shouldn't smoke for 12 hours before the surgery .

No smoking before or after... I used the patch. It really works! I thought I would be nicking out bad but I was fine.

2 days before start using the patch... After surgery you won't want a smoke anyway. Only start using the patch when you start craving... Don't try to sleep with a patch on.. It gave me bad dreams.
