Hi!
I have had very painful and horrible experiences at dentists for a long time. I don't get numb easily, I don't stay numb, and I turn out to be allergic (actually allergic!) to a lot of local anesthetics which is apparently quite rare. I found this out when, three days after a routine cavity filling, my entire left side of my face went numb and stayed numb for almost a month. It was terrifying. All doctors could suggest was a lot of antihistamine and giving it time. It resolved except for a small area in my chin. That was quite awhile ago. The last filling I had took 10 - you read that right! - 10 shots to get me numb. i was drenched in sweat and shaking so hard they had to stop for a few minutes while I tried to get my body to stop freaking out. Even that stuff they put on the gums to numb them - it feels like deep, painful aching and burning.
So now I have more cavities I have to take care of. No matter what I do my teeth have trouble. I try so very hard to take good care of them to avoid having to go through this. And on top of that a tooth that is not one of the known cavity ones, in the front left, is really hurting. To the point where I just called the dentist to make an appointment. They can see me Friday but the dentist is out of town for another week so ... I'll just have to hang in there with the pain, and the intense, constant anxiety. It's making it so I can't sleep or eat. I'm a mess. I need a hug. I live along and don't have friends where I am as I moved here for a job. I feel alone and totally, completely freaked out. I would appreciate any and all thoughts, ideas and support too. I never ask for support but I have to go to the dentist now. This pain is too much and I am literally shaking all over just thinking about it. Thanks so much in advance for assistance!
